  18.   Introduction:

  20.    We have developed CapiTel because OS/2 needed  a  CAPI  1.1  based
  21.    answering machine. It worked  very  well  for  our  personal  use,
  22.    therefore the time has come to release it to  the  public.  Please
  23.    do  not forget that this is an beta version and that it  has  only
  24.    been tested with the ELSA OS/2 CAPI driver. If you  have problems,
  25.    contact us and we will fix them!

  27.   Installation:

  29.    Unzip  the  distribution  archive  into  the  desired  destination
  30.    directory and run INSTALL.CMD.

  32.   Usage:

  34.    You can configure CapiTel by using the GENERAL->SETUP option.

  36.   Record Welcome-Text:
  37.   ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
  38.    You  can  record  your  own  welcome-text  instead  of  using  the
  39.    default  one.  Just  start  CapiTel  and  press the record-button.
  40.    Now call  yourself by phone and record your welcome text.  A  BEEP
  41.    will be automatically appended.

  43.   Special Features:

  45.    In  CapiTel.Nam  you  can  specify  a realname for each number, in
  46.    CapiTel.Eaz  a  description for each  EAZ  and  in  CapiTel.Cal an
  47.    alternative  PCM-File  (you can record with the record option) for
  48.    each incoming number. Please refer to these files for examples.

  74.    On Capi 1.1 it is not possible  to start 2 or  more  applications,
  75.    that  want  to listen to the same EAZ (and same ServiceIndicator).
  76.    So it is not possible to run CapiTel and (e.g.) CallerID or  Capi-
  77.    Snooper at the  same time. If CallerID  or  Snooper  starts  after
  78.    Capitel,  this is a flag for bad programming of these applications
  79.    or CAPI-driver.

  81.    The  PCM-files  are plain a-law-data. In one of the following ver-
  82.    sions you can send welcome.wav  instead of welcome.pcm. so you can
  83.    create your own  welcome-text  with your soundcard without calling
  84.    yourself.
